The initial concept for Symita emerged through a program collaboration between IU Health and High Alpha Innovation. Maternal wellness and improving at-risk patient outcomes are important focuses of IU Health’s strategy: during a 13-week launch program, the team identified a strategic need to reduce pregnancy complications by empowering providers and patients to create a new, shared standard of care. The U.S. ranks last among developed nations in maternal health with 23.8 deaths per 100,000 pregnancies. Add the fact that 35% of pregnancies are considered abnormal and this complexity increases; there is a need to address this growing issue through the launch of an external startup.

Following Sprint Week, High Alpha Innovation and IU Health launched Symita to reduce complexity across the entire pregnancy journey in and
outside of healthcare providers. Symita is led by co-founder and CEO Love Beejal.
